Pacific Seafarers' Net

Welcome to the Pacific Seafarers' Net, a volunteer-operated amateur radio network dedicated to supporting mariners crossing the world's oceans. For over two decades, our team of dedicated ham radio operators has provided vital communication services to cruising sailors, offering daily check-ins, weather reports, position tracking, and emergency relay capabilities.

Daily Operations on 14300 kHz

The PacSeaNet operates 365 days per year on 14300 kHz USB at 0300 UTC, creating a reliable lifeline for vessels traversing the Pacific Ocean and beyond. Our maritime mobile service network welcomes participants from all oceanic regions, whether you're sailing from Hawaii to New Zealand, crossing from the Americas to the South Pacific, or cruising the coastal waters of the Pacific Rim.

During each daily net session, participating vessels check in with their position, weather conditions, crew status, and any traffic or assistance needed. Our experienced net control operators maintain organized roll calls, coordinate message traffic, and ensure every vessel receives the support they need.

YOTREPS Position Reporting

A cornerstone of our service is the publication of YOTREPS (Yacht Operational Reports), comprehensive position reports that track participating vessels throughout their voyages. These reports provide peace of mind for cruisers and their families ashore, creating a reliable record of vessel movements across remote ocean passages.

According to the American Radio Relay League's Maritime Mobile Service Network resources, organized maritime nets play a crucial role in recreational boating safety, particularly for vessels operating beyond reliable VHF radio range.

Community of Volunteers

The Pacific Seafarers' Net is powered entirely by volunteers—amateur radio operators who dedicate their time and expertise to serve the cruising community. Our team includes net control operators, scribes who maintain detailed logs, relay station operators who help bridge difficult propagation conditions, and administrative support personnel.

We're always seeking qualified volunteers to join our team. Whether you're a land-based operator with a quiet location and good equipment, or a maritime mobile looking to give back to the community that supports you, we welcome your participation.

More Than Just Position Reports

While position reporting and weather information are essential services, the PacSeaNet provides something equally valuable: community. For sailors spending weeks or months at sea, the daily radio check-in offers social connection, shared experiences, and the reassurance that skilled operators are listening and ready to help if needed.

Our nets facilitate communication between vessels, coordinate rendezvous meetings in remote anchorages, relay messages to and from shore-side contacts, and provide a forum for exchanging vital information about ports, weather patterns, equipment repairs, and cruising destinations.

Get Involved

Whether you're planning your first ocean crossing or you're an experienced cruiser, we invite you to join the Pacific Seafarers' Net community. Maritime mobile stations are welcome to check in during our daily nets, and land-based amateur radio operators interested in supporting the cruising community can learn about volunteer opportunities.
